Well, here it is, after a good few months quietly brewing I can now say this is ready for public consumption. :D

This theme includes a GTK (Based on New Wave), a Metacity theme (Based on Nootoo), an Emerald theme (based on Muin2) and the Basic5 ttf font that is what you see on display in the screenshots here.

The Metacity theme is not quite the same as the Emerald one, most notably the corners are rounded and the buttons are quite different.

A huge, huge thanks goes out to Anton Kerezov and lassekongo83 for their outstanding work and their generosity to make their works available under the Creative Commons license, without which this package would never have been possible.

Changes since 1.0:

  • Modified status bar handle
  • New Emerald theme. No longer has 'fake' drop shadows, thus shadows from panel and menus are now possible. The one caveat of this is that resizing windows is a slightly more fiddly, but with alt-drag it's no real issue.
  • Panel background is no longer part of the theme, instead panel backgrounds are provided separately and can be applied as desired; this also fixes the issue of the pixmap not lining up perfectly and panels of different heights (22, 24, 32, 40 and 48 pixels) are provided.
  • White Ubuntu menu icon is provided too, since a few people asked about it last time.

  • Fix for black-on-black text with Firefox' menu bar:

Firefox uses the Xul toolkit and only has the ability to emulate your GTK theme, and it's not always perfect at it. In this case, the text on the menu bar in Firefox is black when it should be white.

Inside the Lithium GTK archive you'll find a file called userChrome.css, which will fix the problem. Copy that file into ~/.mozilla/<your profile>/chrome, then restart the browser.

Cheers :) There are no plans to port it to XP though from me, as I'm not experienced at all with working with msstyles. If anyone ever wants to of course, are free to :D

Hi,

First of all LOVE the theme! But, when I installed it, it didn't show up in my themes list. I had to use the customize button to get it to work. Also, I was having the black on black text problem in FF so I wanted to fix that, but it wasn't showing up in /usr/share/themes either! So I ended up deleting the individual panel and window themes and tried to reinstall. That didn't work, it now tells me that I can't move over another directory.

How do I completely remove lithium and start over?

If you installed the theme using the drag/drop method it will be in ~/.themes, not /usr/share/themes. And yes, it does only show up under the 'Customize' section :)
