I got sick of how the main Windows 8 visual style looks so different (and crap) compared to Microsoft's own Office 2013 and Visual Studio applications, so here's my feeble effort at reconciling the difference.
Basically it's the retina-destroying white of Office 2013 with some of Visual Studio's ideas thrown in.
Changelog
1.03 (01/01/2013) - Happy new year! - Scroll bars now look the way I wanted them to originally - Caption glyphs have been changed very slightly (lighter) - License/legal info is included in the zip. - Added a dash of colour to the default wallpaper. - Unfocused windows now have shadows like Visual Studio does.
1.02 (30/09/2012): - Fixed the taskbar problem, hopefully. - Tucked the folder band away from Explorer - disable the ribbon using [link] (it works for RTM as well as CP)
Installation
1) Go to [link] if you're on 64 bit or [link] if you're on 32 bit and patch your uxstyle dll. Restart your computer if need be.
2) Download this style and extract it to %WINDIR%\Resources\Themes
3) Right click your desktop, go to 'Properties' and select 'TwentyThirteen' as your theme.
4) Eat ice cream (optional).
Copyright
As of 1.03, this theme is licensed under the WTFPL - See the included License.txt in the zip file.
I did exactly what the instructions said to do and instead of a pretty new theme I got a flashing black screen. I restarted the computer and the black screen persisted; I ended up having to do a system restore. This seems to happen with any and every theme. What the fuck am I doing wrong here?
Am I missing something. I installed the 64 bit version of uxstyle...placed theme in resources...click on theme and it just makes my taskbar clear...like aerolite
This might make it a bit better though.
thank God you took out the line under the Titlebar (shows up if the explorer ribbon is disabled)
and that stupid red X
Love the scrollbar and blue drop shadow
you took out that STUPID line under the explorer window title bar..(shows up once explorer ribbon is disabled)
Best muthaf@#$ skin on the planet.....
